Félix Porón is one of the longest-serving members of the Coffee Growers of San Miguel Escobar, just outside of Antigua, Guatemala. Unlike most members, Félix grows his coffee on the slopes around San Miguel Dueñas, across the valley from Volcán de Agua. The official formation of the cooperative dates back to 2005. A group of seven coffee farmers decided to learn how to process their own coffee. They had been picking and selling their ripened coffee cherries to street vendors at very low prices. In an effort to expand their market, they partnered with De La Gente in 2014. On the Edge Coffee purchased these beans for our roastery from Félix Porón's partner 8 Acres Coffee Roastery in Sherwood Park, Alberta.
